CHARACTERISTICS

Vanilla is a climbing and creeping plant. It has exposed roots and external seeds. The flowers are pale colors that are born in lateral clusters. These flowers are very aromatic and are short-lived. It produces pods that are used to make vanilla essence, for which they must first go through sun-drying processing.

USAGE

Vanilla is considered one of the favorite plants for international gastronomy, and due to the delicate nature of its fertilization, reproduction, care and processing, its by-products are of high value in the market.

MEDICINAL USAGE

It is known that vanilla stimulates the central nervous and olfactory systems, its aroma is considered a mild aphrodisiac, it also relaxes muscles, relieves stress, anxiety, improves mood and is known to help reduce inflammation and pain. It is a source of vitamins B2 and B3, calcium, potassium, sodium, zinc and magnesium.

Nowadays it is processed, obtaining extracts, essential oils, pastes and other by-products from the flower and its pod.

CARACTERÍSTICAS

La vainilla es una planta trepadora y de crecimiento rastrero. Tiene las raices al aire y semillas exteriores. Las flores son de colores pálidos que nacen en racimos laterales. Estas flores son muy aromáticas y son de vida corta. Produce vainas que son utilizadas para la elaboración de la esencia de vainilla, para lo cual deben pasar por un procesamiento de secado al sol primero.

La vainilla es considerada una de las plantas preferidas por la gastronomia internacional, y debido a lo delicado de su  fecundación, reproducción, cuidado y procesamiento, sus subproductos son de alto valor en el mercado.

USOS MEDICINALES

La vainilla estimula los sistemas nervioso central y olfatorio, su aroma es considerado un afrodisíaco suave, también  relaja los músculos, alivia el estrés, la ansiedad, mejora el estado de ánimo y se sabe que ayuda a disminuir la inflamación y el dolor.  Es fuente de vitaminas B2 y B3, calcio, potasio, sodio, zinc y magnesio.

Hoy en dia se procesa obteniéndose de la flor y de su vaina extractos, aceites esenciales, pastas y otros subproductos.
