CHARACTERISTICS
Cat’s claw is a liana which grows up to 20 m long. It has its name because of the spines on the stem. The entire plant is ground into a powder which may be consumed by people at any age.
MEDICAL USAGE
It is known to stimulate and strengthen an immune system. Contains alkaloids inhibiting lymphocytes which cause infla- mations in auto immunological diseases. It might help in situations of weakened immune system such as AIDS or chemotherapy. It is reported to have anti-tumor and anti-cancer properties, particularly in the urinary tract. Moreover, cat’s claws reduce pain and inflammation of rheumatism and arthritis. It also helps to fight viruses and fun- gus infections, e.g. herpes. It is also effective in cleansing bow- els and treating digestive system disorders like irritable and leaky bowel syndrome, colitis, gastritis, and others.

La uña de gato es una liana que crece hasta 20 m. Su nombre viene de las espinas en el tallo. Toda la planta es molida para convertirla en polvo y puede ser consumida por personas de cualquier edad.
USO MEDICINAL
Estimula y refuerza el sistema inmunológico. Contiene alcaloides, los cuales inhiben los linfocitos responsables de las inflamaciones en enfermedades autoinmunes. Puede ayudar en situaciones de debilidad de las defensas del organismo – SIDA o quimioterapia. Tiene propiedades antitumorales y anticancerígenas, especialmente en el tracto urinario. Además, la uña de gato reduce el dolor y las inflamaciones de reumatismo y artritis. Ayuda en las infecciones causadas por virus y hongos, como los herpes. Es también efectiva para limpiar los intestinos y tratar los trastornos del sistema digestivo (síndrome del intestino irritable, colitis, gastritis y otros).
