CHARACTERISTICS
It is a perennial herbaceous plant, which grows between 15 cm to 35 cm high. Lanceolate leaves with a red stem in the center. Small green flowers. The root is bright yellow inside. It is known by that name because of its resemblance to the real rhubarb, also of European origin.
USAGE
In general, it is very undervalued everywhere as it is considered a weed. However, those who know about the subject highly value it for its wide spectrum of action.
MEDICINAL USAGE
In Europe this plant has been used since ancient times and its root is used in traditional medicine to treat skin problems such as hives, psoriasis and eczema. A decoction of its root and leaves is used to treat iron deficiencies and anemia, as well as to treat infections, rheumatism, biliary conditions and digestive disorders.

Se trata de una planta herbácea perenne, que crece entre los 15 cms a los 35 cms de alto. Hojas lanceoladas con un tallo rojo en el centro. Flores verdes pequeñas. La raiz es de color amarillo brillante en su interior. Se le conoce con ese nombre por su parecido con el verdadero ruibarbo, también de origen europeo.
USOS
En general, en todas partes es muy poco valorada ya que se le considera mala hierba. Sin embargo los que conocen sobre el tema la valoran mucho por su amplio expectro de acción.
USOS MEDICINALES
En Europa esta planta ha sido utilizada desde la antigüedad y su raiz se utiliza en medcina tradicional para tratar problemas de la piel tales como urticaria, psoriasis y eccema. Una decocción de su raíz y de sus hojas se utiliza para tratar deficiencias de hierro y anemia, también para tratar infecciones, reumatismo, afecciones biliares y desórdenes digestivos.
