CHARACTERISTICS
It is an epiphytic plant that grows in very humid forests from 0 meters above sea level to 1000 meters above sea level. It grows on trees and along ravines in the province of Limón.
USAGE
This cactus is highly appreciated as an ornamental. It has highly branched stems, translucent white flowers and small fruits in the shape of translucent white globes. It is usually found in homes throughout the country in hanging pots.
MEDICINAL USAGE
In the traditional medicine of the Southern Caribbean of Costa Rica, the BriBri ethnic group uses this plant as a postpartum remedy to promote the recovery of the uterus. It is also used as a contraceptive method and to recover from fractures, sprains, dislocations, skin wounds, sores, burns and hemorrhoids. Reduces pain and accelerates bone healing. It is also used in natural cosmetics in association with other medicinal plants.

Es una planta epífita que crece en bosques muy húmedos desde 0 metros sobre en nivel del mar hasta los 1000 metros de actitud. Crece en los árboles y a lo largo de las quebradas en la provincia de Limón.
USOS
Esta cactácea es muy apreciada como ornamental. Presenta tallos muy ramificados, flores blancas translúcidas y frutos pequeños en forma de globos blancos también traslúcidos. Se le suele encontrar en las casas de todo el pais en macetas colgantes.
USOS MEDICINALES
En la medicina tradicional del Caribe Sur de Costa Rica la etnia BriBri utiliza esta planta como remedio post parto para favorecer la recuperación del útero. Igualmente se utiliza como método anticonceptivo y para recuperarse de fracturas, esguinces, luxaciones, heridas de la piel, llagas, quemaduras y hemorroides. Reduce el dolor y acelera el soldado de los huesos. También se utiliza en cosmética natural en asociación con otras plantas medicinales.
