CHARACTERISTICS
It is a large tree that grows 15 meters tall and has a trunk 3-4 meters in diameter. Long petiole leaves. It produces branch fruits on its 25 cm trunk, some of which are large, weighing up to 40 kilos. The inside of the fruit are small orange-yellow coated seeds.
USAGE
Due to its protein content, it is considered a good substitute for meat, which is why it is highly appreciated by vegetarians. With it, a typical dish is prepared that is the national dish of Bangladesh. It is a very sweet and acidic fruit at the same time. The wood from the tree is also used for construction and other similar uses.
MEDICINAL USAGE
Excellent source of carbohydrates so it provides energy to the body. It improves cardiovascular health and thanks to its high potassium content, it helps maintain healthy blood pressure. Produce frutos en rama en su tronco de 25 cms algunos de gran tamaño de hasta 40 kilos de peso. El interior de la fruta son pequeñas semillas recubiertas de color amarillo naranja.
USOS
Por su contenido proteico, se considera un buen susituto de la carne por lo que es muy apreciado por los vegetarianos. Con él se prepara un plato típico que es el plato nacional de Bangladesh. Es una fruta muy dulce y ácida a la vez. La madera del árbol también se utiliza para construcción y otros usos similares.
